Pharmacology
Reumex contains Methyl Salicylate, a topical anagelsic and anti-inflammatory agent for the relief of pain associated with musculoskeletal discomfort.
Capsicum is a counter-irritant used also as a topical analgesic in painful conditions. Topical application of capsicum produces a counter-irritant effect, attributed to its ability to deplete the neuropeptide substance P (pain causing subatance ) from local sensory c-type nerve fibres,and isd therefore useful in a range of painful conditions.
Menthol results in dilatation of blood vessels in the affected area causing a soothing effect followed by analgesic action.
Indications
Reumex lotion is indicated in the relief of pain associated with arthritis; muscle, joint and soft tissue pains and muscular stiffness. It also relieves itching in pruritus and urticaria.
Contra-indications
Do not use in patients with Aspirin or Salicylate idiosyncrasy.
Precautions/Warnings
Do not use excessive amounts. Do not apply to eyes or broken skin.
